Retake Policy for Safety Net Tests

Candidates who do not pass a test may retake it until a passing score is achieved. Candidates must reregister each time they retake a test.

Please note the following retake guidelines:

• You must wait 30 days after taking the following safety net tests before retaking the same test:
• Safety Net American Sign Language (061)
• Safety Net Cantonese (011)
• Safety Net French (012)
• Safety Net German (013)
• Safety Net Greek (014)
• Safety Net Hebrew (015)
• Safety Net Italian (016)
• Safety Net Japanese (017)
• Safety Net Latin (010)
• Safety Net Mandarin (018)
• Safety Net Russian (019)
• Safety Net Spanish (020)
• You must wait 60 days after taking all other safety net CSTs before retaking the same test.

Candidates who have passed a NYSTCE test have met that part of the testing requirement for certification and, therefore, are not eligible to retake the test unless the candidate is retaking the test to meet the requirement for a Re-Issuance of their Initial certificate.
