NYSTCE Flex Multi-Subject: Teachers of Early Childhood (Birth–Grade 2) Part Two: Mathematics (601)

NYSTCE Flex provides an assessment option for NYSTCE candidates whose score on select NYSTCE test fields is within a .5 standard error of measurement (SEM) of the passing score on a required Content Specialty Test (CST). Candidates who meet this eligibility requirement have the opportunity to submit a NYSTCE Flex assessment rather than retaking their NYSTCE test.

For NYSTCE Flex, candidates provide an analysis of a NYSTCE test competency to demonstrate the depth of their content knowledge. NYSTCE Flex Multi-Subject: Teachers of Early Childhood (Birth–Grade 2) Math (246) requires candidates to provide a written submission to demonstrate their content knowledge. Candidates who pass NYSTCE Flex will meet the relevant CST requirement for their certification, but may still need to take and pass additional CSTs as required by their certificate area.

Eligibility	Must have taken Multi-Subject: Teachers of Early Childhood (Birth–Grade 2) Math (246) on or after February 26, 2025, and received a scaled score between 514 and 520.
