School Building Leader Assessment: Pass Status

In response to input from the field, NYSED is making the following accommodation:

Candidates for School Building Leader certification who have not passed both parts of the Original (2008) School Building Leader assessment (100/101) or both parts of the Revised (Sept. 2013) School Building Leader assessment (107/108) may now instead combine Pass status across the two assessments prior to June 30, 2014.

Candidates may now complete the School Building Leader assessment requirement by combining a Pass status on one part of the original (2008) assessment (i.e., either Part 1 or Part 2) with a Pass status on the other part of the revised (Sept. 2013) assessment. Candidates combining their Pass status across the two assessments must complete testing for both parts on or before June 30, 2014.

In order to combine pass status across the two SBL assessments, the candidate must meet all certification requirements prior to June 30, 2014 including an application and fee for certification. The requirements for certification are listed on the TEACH account. If the candidate applied on or after May 1, 2014 and before June 30, 2014, the candidate must also pass the Educating All Students Exam prior to June 30, 2014. After June 30, 2014, all School Building Leader candidates will need to pass both parts of the Revised (Sept. 2013) School Building Leader Assessment (107/108). Candidates may now schedule to take one or both parts of the Revised (Sept. 2013) School Building Leader Assessment (107/108) during either of the following testing windows:

* Please be aware that this second window runs through July 14, 2014, but candidates scheduling tests in this window who are seeking to combine their Pass status across the two assessments MUST schedule a testing date that is on or before June 30, 2014.

Please see NYSTCE School Leadership Assessments Test Schedule for the full SLA test schedule.
